HERZING TOASTMASTERS CLUB 7789 is thriving because you are...
because we all are.

How far we have come! Once we proclaimed ourselves "the comeback
club", noting how we keep improving together since nearly closing    down in 2004. Now, I am ready for a "new" moniker: THE "come back" Club, because
  • we have "come back" -having met and overcame every challenge to grow!
  • we work hard, achieve greatness, and "come back" for more!
  • we always welcome visitors (and seasoned veterans, like me) to "come back"!
  • we are THE Club that folks "come back" to again and again!

who?

In October 1924, a group of men assembled by Dr. Ralph C. Smedley met in the basement of the YMCA in Santa Ana, California, U.S.A., forming a club “to afford practice and training in the art of public speaking and in presiding over meetings, and to promote sociability and good fellowship among its members.” The group took the name “Toastmasters.”  We are a local chapter of Toastmasters International.

what?

Herzing Toastmasters Club 7789 is a non-profit organization which gives its members the opportunity to develop and improve their public speaking skills through weekly club meetings, training seminars and speech contests.

why?Experienced and beginning speakers alike can benefit from our practical, face-to-face learning program. Whether you're speaking to your board of directors, to your customers, to your co-workers, or to your kids, Herzing can help you become a better speaker. You will learn and practice in a friendly, comfortable environment with people who are there for the same reason you are—to become a better communicator.

how?At Herzing, members learn by giving speeches in front of their peers and by working with them in a supportive environment.

A typical Toastmasters club is made up of 20 to 30 members who meet once a week for about a hour. Each meeting gives a member an opportunity to practice conducting meetings, giving impromptu speeches, presenting prepared speeches, and offering constructive evaluations.
